Pokud čtete spoilery, tak víte, že pro Dawsona a Joey vypadá situace několik epizod před koncem seriálu moc špatně. Ještě ale není čas házet flintu do žita, poslední epizody stále nejsou napsané a máme šanci do nich zasáhnout. Karen a Nora z diskusních fór na www.projectsoulmates.org přišly s nápadem, jak by to šlo zařídit. Karen sepsala níže uvedený dopis, který reflektuje naše zklamání z uplynulých čtyř let seriálu a současného vývoje, jež nás dovedlo k tomu, že si nekoupíme komplet tří DVD s 1.sérií (vyjde za oceánem 1.dubna), což by zase mělo dovést tvůrce seriálu k tomu, že se v nich hne svědomí, případně se zamyslí nad tím, kolik si vlastně chtějí těmi DVD vydělat. To whom it may concern.
When this show started oh so many years ago, it was seen as a journey for 4 people. Their coming of age. But underneath it all we saw that there was this unmistakable bond between Dawson and Joey. This bond has always been there, and I can only guess as to if it's still there now cause I never get to see them together on the screen. Ask anyone that never watches this show what it is about, most will say "that Dawson guy and the brunette". Or most will ask if Dawson and the brunette are dating. The characters of Dawson and Joey are the sole basis of this show. It's the thing that almost everyone thinks of when they think about this show.
That's why it never made any sense to have this couple more or less mocked for the past 4 years. I know the story goes that they are a "will they, won't they" couple, but still there are times when Dawson's Creek has taken that concept a little too far.
I guess that all the way the couple has been treated will serve to do is to hinder the season 1 DVD sales. Oh I still believe that this show will end with Dawson and Joey together. What would Dawson's Creek be if it never ended with it's star couple. But because of how this couple has been mocked over the past 4 years, it's really only going to hinder the sales. I know loads of Dawson and Joey fans who had the intention of buying these DVD's. But now with this Pacey and Joey stuff, with the inability to have Joey admit she has issues, the lack of screen time for Dawson and Joey, what reasons do we have to buy a DVD that shows how it was, yet never was a resemblance of it's former self in the days before it went. I know I don't intend on buying it.
The way that Dawson and Joey have been portrayed these past 4 year has been as nothing other than a curse to the writing team and I guess to the network too. The only way I would ever in a million years consider buying the DVD set would be if I was given a meaningful end to all this drama. If Joey was seen facing her issues, if we got more than the customery you better be used to the idea by now "tacked on happy ending". We DJers aren't simply happy with the 'well they got there in the end' (in the last 5 minutes), it's never been what we wanted. We wanted to see the beginning, the middle, with all it's real relationship problems, DJo fighting to stay together, working through the real issues, and of course them being portrayed as happy, fun and sexy together. I guess it was always too much to ask. All we will ever be left with are the 'oh they're back together, oops no they're not' times.
So I ask you this, who is the season 1 DVD going to be marketed for if not the DJers? Because quite frankly seeing how it was in the beginning is not what we'll care for if it's only going to remind us of all that wasted potential. Maybe the DVD will not be as big a hit as it's expected to be.

Když seriál před těmi tolika lety začal, byl chápán jako cesta čtyř lidí. Jejich dospívání. Ale pod tím vším jsme viděli, že mezi Dawsonem a Joey je nezaměnitelné pouto. To pouto vždy existovalo a mohu jen hádat, jestli existuje i nyní, protože je na obrazovce už spolu nevídám. Zeptejte se kohokoli, kdo se na seriál nedívá, o čem je, většina vám řekne: "O tom Dawsonovi a tý brunetě." Nebo se vás zeptají, jestli Dawson a ta bruneta spolu chodí. Postavy Dawsona a Joey tvoří základní kámen tohoto seriálu. Oni jsou to, na co téměř každý pomyslí, když přijde řeč na tento seriál.
Proto nikdy nedávalo žádný smysl tuto dvojici během uplynulých čtyř let více či méně pošlapávat. Já vím, že příběh spočívá v tom, že jsou takovým tím párem "udělají to, nebo ne", ale přesto jsou chvíle, kdy Dawsonův svět zašel v tomto konceptu trochu až příliš daleko.
Řekla bych, že způsob, jakým bylo s touto dvojicí zacházeno, bude na překážku prodeji DVD s 1.sérií. Stále věřím, že na konci seriálu budou Dawson a Joey spolu. Co by byl Dawsonův svět, kdyby na jeho konci nebyl jeho hvězdný pár spolu? Ale to, jak byla tato dvojice pošlapávána během uplynulých čtyř let, skutečně bude jen a pouze na překážku prodeji. Znám spoustu fanoušků Dawsona a Joey, kteří měli v úmyslu si ta DVD koupit. Ale teď s tou zápletkou Paceyho a Joey, s neschopností přiznat, že má Joey problémy, s minimem času na obrazovce pro Dawsona a Joey, jaké máme důvody si koupit DVD, které nám ukazuje, jaké to bylo, jak se seriál v těchto dnech svému bývalému já vůbec nepodobá? Vím, že já si ho v úmyslu koupit nemám.
Způsob, jakým byli během uplynulých čtyř let Dawson a Joey prezentováni, nebyl nic jiného než prokletím pro scenáristický tým, a řekla bych, že pro televizi WB rovněž. Vůbec někdy bych koupi toho souboru DVD byť jen zvažovala pouze v případě, kdybych dostala smysluplný konec všeho toho dramatu. Kdybych viděla Joey postavit se svým problémům, kdybychom dostali více, než jen to, co míváte ve zvyku, tj. "happy end ušitý horkou jehlou." My, DJo fanoušci, nejsme prostě a jednoduše uspokojeni s 'no, nakonec to zvládli' (v posledních pěti minutách), to jsme nikdy nechtěli. Chtěli jsme vidět začátek, prostředek se všemi jeho problémy skutečného vztahu, DJo bojující za svůj vztah, překonávající skutečné problémy. Asi jsme toho vždy chtěli příliš. Vše, co nám zbyde, budou takové ty chvíle 'Á, jsou zase spolu, jéjej, ne, nejsou.'
Takže se vás ptám na následující. Komu je určeno ke koupi DVD s 1.sérií, když ne DJo fanouškům? Protože zcela upřímně, vidět, jaké to bylo na začátku, není něco, co by nás zajímalo, pokud nám to bude připomínat všechen ten promarněný potenciál. Možná to DVD nebude takový velký hit, jak se očekává.
